I took an interest in writing myself more recently when I wanted to find books that mixed fantasy settings with a more action oriented pace. Some fantasy tends to drag on. Actually, a lot of fantasy tends to drag on. I love fantasy that deals with conflict and plot while not getting as bogged down with setting and description. I'm most interested in stories that finds the perfect blend of character development and pace.
I'm a 44 year old father of four children and have been happily married for 16 years. I graduated from Indiana University in 1991 with a B.S. in Pshycology. I put that degree to great use as I've spent the last 17 years working with computers as an application developer.
Forging my own path is not unknown to me. Shortly after I graduated from college I was lured by the world of application development. The problem solving that comes with the occupation drew me in and its where I remain. I taught myself how to write code and passed a Microsoft certification exam. I had my first job in programming two days later.
I've trained for and run two marathons in the last two years after losing and keeping off 70 pounds. I draw a lot of inspiration from running and consider it my sanctuary.
I spend my free time either with my family, reading, or writing. Those are my three great passions with the recent discovery of writing making the short list. I haven't been at it long but I love it so far.
